Marimekko, the Finnish design house, is highlighted in SWNR’s 2nd installment of Textile Tuesday.
Seriously what other textile design house can claim it has decorated everything from a First Lady to walls, beds, dining tables, buses, cars, hot air balloons and airplanes???????????????
Although the brand was created in Finland in 1951 it did not make it state side until 1958, just in time for Jackie Kennedy to sport these fab Finnish frocks throughout the 1960 Presidential Campaign.
Marimekko is all about bold, bright and graphic patterns that provides happiness and joy for all that come upon them!!!
To celebrate Unikko’s (their iconic pattern) 50th anniversary we are showcasing this poppy pattern and the various applications it pops up on. It’s still as funky fresh as it was in 1964 and still finds itself modern and on point in 2014.
