When it comes to inspiration very little is off-limits!
When I say very little I do really mean that….I have been moved creatively by bark on trees, beautifully patinaed street hardware, vintage scarves, not to mention the randomness of my treasures from my antique hunts…just to name a few!
Today I have one word for you…Thermos!
That’s right the vessel that held your soup as a child and now holds your coffee is my latest muse. Yesterday I was out and about doing my treasure hunting thing and could not get enough of these beauties. The color combo…the patterns…spectacular!
Mirror Mirror on the walls, who loves MuuMuu’s and collects them all???
Where we went with more of a zen vibe and used textures in a big way in the master bath we flipped the switch in the guest bath and went in for a Hollywood Regency vibe. We used a favorite color combo platter of mine…a vibrant green mixed with black & white, then played with the hexagon shape in several places that set a mod/ vintage tone. And for good glam measure we went with a mirrored vanity and a vintage milk glass pendant.
I absolutely love love love old houses and love them even more when they haven’t necessarily been remodeled so we can do our thing. But with that beauty comes that beast…and that beast is usually in the form of bathrooms and kitchens!
We have been in our 1969 ranch home for 6 years and are now just getting to remodel our beasts….the master bath and guest bath. Joy to the World!!! Other than getting a washer and dryer in my home and not having to hoard quarters to do my laundry this is one of the most exciting things ever!
The original master bath was broken out into two rooms and a closet, with one of the rooms being carpeted (gross!) with a soffit that closed in the space even more.
We made the two rooms one, ditched the carpet and soffit and just like that the space began its transformation.
So here is my Master Bath Show & Tell…

getting my zen on,
ROYGBIV has always been a clever way to remember the colors in the rainbow and color wheel. Well I actually had the opportunity to spend a few fun days in ROYGBIV! Not possible you say…wrong you are!
ROYGBIV truly exists as a town in New Jersey….Cape May, New Jersey. Cape May is an absolutely lovely Victorian seaside resort town that became popular in the mid 18th century and is BEYOND charming and colorful!
If it’s not on your list it is a must add. The town is not just a summer town, it is beautiful place to visit in the fall and during the holidays.
somewhere is the rainbow,
I always fall for the gorgeous brooches during my treasure hunting adventures but then I end up talking myself out of bringing them home knowing I am not really a brooch wearing gal.
Well guess what??? New day…New dawn!
In fact I am a brooch wearing gal…just in a modified way. In a statement necklace kind of way.
Here is my latest fashion DIY project. Take one spectacular brooch and one complimentary necklace and you have just created a unique one of a kind “So You” statement necklace.
I have my muumuu, some stylish protective eyewear and a 99% (ish) viewing location…sounds like a great day to get my eclipse on!
* Bonus Track…not only was it a magical experience this afternoon but the magic continued hours later as I reviewed all of the random photos on my phone from the day…
Happy Eclipse Day!
Day Three…Frankfort, KY to College Hill, OH ( and then back to ATL)
Bring on the day…
Today was a first….we made it to Ohio! What will 2018 bring? Michigan perhaps?
Although I absolutely love the treasure hunting, the scenic road trip and of course the pancake dinners at Cracker Barrel what I love, love, love the most are the amazing, kind and interesting people I meet along the way. This year we ended the trip in College Hill, Ohio and met such a wonderful, spirited, joyful group of people from Serve NCH doing great things not only for their immediate community but also the greater community by collecting medicine bottle for Doctors Without Borders. Good vibes…
Only 353 days until next year…Whose in?
And the epic adventure continues…
Day Two…Crossville, TN to Frankfort, KY
First stop of the day was a good one…
I Love Love!
An all time favorite stop…what will a girl find?
Glassware is what a girl will find…
Check in tomorrow for the third and final day of the 2017 127 Adventure.
Can you believe it…it’s that time of year again. The days are long, the weather is warm and the 127 is on!
If you aren’t familiar with what the 127 is I will quickly get you up to speed…it is the World’s Longest Yard Sale! Yes you heard it right…it is held the first week of August , it’s on rural route 127, it runs from Alabama through Michigan and it’s 690 miles long!
Whenever I share my enthusiasm of this epic adventure I get one of the following two responses…Oh wow that sounds AMAZING, what’s it like? or eww! I get more wows that ewws but I get it, treasure hunting isn’t for everyone! So for those who are curious instead of a photo recap of this year’s trip I decided to do my 127 Show & Tell video style…
One rental mini van, three days, four states and 961 miles and this is how it went down…
Day One…Signal Mountain, TN to Crossville, TN
Check out tomorrow for day two’s clips from the road!
