When it comes to inspiration very little is off-limits!
When I say very little I do really mean that….I have been moved creatively by bark on trees, beautifully patinaed street hardware, vintage scarves, not to mention the randomness of my treasures from my antique hunts…just to name a few!
Today I have one word for you…Thermos!
That’s right the vessel that held your soup as a child and now holds your coffee is my latest muse. Yesterday I was out and about doing my treasure hunting thing and could not get enough of these beauties. The color combo…the patterns…spectacular!
Can you believe it…it’s that time of year again. The days are long, the weather is warm and the 127 is on!
If you aren’t familiar with what the 127 is I will quickly get you up to speed…it is the World’s Longest Yard Sale! Yes you heard it right…it is held the first week of August , it’s on rural route 127, it runs from Alabama through Michigan and it’s 690 miles long!
Whenever I share my enthusiasm of this epic adventure I get one of the following two responses…Oh wow that sounds AMAZING, what’s it like? or eww! I get more wows that ewws but I get it, treasure hunting isn’t for everyone! So for those who are curious instead of a photo recap of this year’s trip I decided to do my 127 Show & Tell video style…
One rental mini van, three days, four states and 961 miles and this is how it went down…
Day One…Signal Mountain, TN to Crossville, TN
Check out tomorrow for day two’s clips from the road!
When I see her classic signature and her iconic ladybug mark on a piece of cloth I get irrationally excited…as if I am out panning for gold and just scored an epic nugget that will break the scales! Just curious…does this happen to anyone else???
I truly can’t resist the force field that pulls me to Vera Neumann anything…I am all in always! Which has resulted in a healthy cloth napkin and scarf collection.
Any worthy treasure hunt comes out with a few Vera pieces, so here are my most recent finds. In my previous Flower Power post I mentioned my friends at Swift and Faire…well they struck again with pulling me in with this chic shirt from Vera.
Kapow!!! That’s the sound of Flower Power with a Punch…
This Flower Power Punch I speak of is not a refreshment nor is it your soft dainty floral frock where you have visions of proper ladies lunching at a garden party but more of a rowdy Andy Warhol crowd at an amplified pop art gallery opening.
I am sooo crazy in love with my vintage Neiman Marcus palazzo pants from my must stop shop, Swift and Faire, at the fashion tent during the Brimfield show. These crazy cool ladies always have an amazing curated collection of must have’s and these were for sure one of them this round!
